» Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM APO lens test
The Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II, announced in December 2007, is an update to its previous 50-150mm f/2.8. It's hard to tell exactly what has been updated: comparing the specifications of the two lenses, they appear almost exactly identical, except version II seems to have shaved off 8mm from the overall length. The difference appears to be in the mount options, as Sigma has made HSM-style versions available for the previously unsupported Pentax and Sony lens mounts. This is good and bad news: while the lens will mount on those bodies, if the body only supports mechanical (screw-driven) style focusing, autofocus will be unavailable. Newer Pentax and Sony bodies will support the HSM standard. Read the whole review here. You can buy the lens here

» Sigma 70-300mm Lenses for Nikon
Sigma has added a built-in motor to the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro and 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro lenses to make them compatible with Nikon DSLRs. The Nikon D40, D40x and D60 cameras cannot fully support the original Nikon lenses, as there is no AF motor built into these cameras, therefore they require a motor built into the lens to achieve autofocus. The inclusion of the built-in motor in these two new lenses allows autofocus with all Nikon cameras. The 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro lens costs GBP199.99, and the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro GBP149.99. Read the whole article here

» Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro lens test
With Sigma's new 18-50mm f/2.8 macro ($420, estimated street), we jog past another milestone: This was the industry's first digital-only lens to be released in a secondgeneration version. The closest focusing of any Sigma zoom, this 30-85mm (equivalent, with our test camera's 1.6X lens factor) features a wider barrel and larger filter size, and much closer focusing (from 7.25 inches, rather than 11.25 inches) than the 18-50mm it replaces, at about the same price. Attractively finished in Sigma's matte-black "Pro" surfacing, the lens offers ribbed and rubberized zoom and manual-focus rings, and is well-marked with easily legible focusing, zoom, and macro scales. Internal focusing with a non-rotating front element, the lens can't be focused manually in AF mode. In MF mode, the action is smooth, but slightly underdamped, while zooming is both well-damped and even. Autofocusing on our test camera (Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi) was rapid, quiet, and sure.
