» Pentax K20D camera review
Review based on a production Pentax K20D using V1.01 firmware Having risked being left behind by the speed at which the 'affordable' DSLR market developed, Pentax showed how serious its intentions were with the K10D, a semi-pro-level DSLR with a features list to humble the competition at a very attractive price. Having added so many bells and whistles to the K10D, it's not much of a surprise to find that its successor, the K20D, is essentially a refinement of the same design. But, even though it can't quite boast the same novel-feature-count as its predecessor, the K20D still finds room for some interesting changes. Read the whole review here. You can buy the camera here

The Pentax K20D is a 14.6 Megapixel mid-range DSLR which packs-in a broad range of features many of which are normally reserved for semi-pro models. Announced in January 2008, it’s the successor to the popular K10D, from which it inherits an impressive core specification including a dust and weather-resistant body, built-in Shake Reduction, a decent optical viewfinder, a number of innovative exposure modes, a wealth of custom options and the choice of recording RAW images in either Pentax’s own PEF or Adobe’s open DNG formats. To this Pentax has slightly increased the screen size to 2.7in, boosted the maximum sensitivity to 6400 ISO, added Live View facilities and an X-Sync port for external lighting, improved the optionally bundled 18-55mm kit lens, and most importantly, significantly increased the resolution from 10.2 to 14.6 Megapixels. » Pentax Optio Z10 review
The Pentax Optio Z10 features a Pentax-branded 7x optical zoom lens, the highest magnification among current Pentax compact digital cameras. Designed with a refraction lens system, the lens never protrudes from the camera while zooming. The Pentax Z10's 7x optical zoom covers a broad range, from a rather tight wide-angle 38mm-equivalent to a moderate 266mm equivalent telephoto. The lens is coupled with an eight-megapixel sensor and a 2.5-inch LCD display that has 230,000 pixels. As is common on many digicams these days, this LCD is the sole method of framing images, as the Optio Z10 forgoes any form of optical viewfinder. Read the whole review here. The new Pentax K200D replaces the K100D and is targeted at family users and digital SLR beginners. Although its 10.2-megapixel CCD image sensor has lower resolution than the 14.2-megapixel CMOS chip in the K20D, the entry-level K200D has similar dust- and moisture-proof sealing, the same built-in anti-shake and dust removal and many of the same functions, but a significantly lower price tag. » Pentax K20D Review

The 10.2MP Pentax K10D was a DSLR bargain in 2007 with its nearly pro body, excellent image quality, fast AF, image stabilization, and a price of only $920 (body only) when launched. It's still a steal at $700 (street). But if you want a camera with higher resolution, larger LCD, live view, and other enhancements, check out the new 14.6MP Pentax K20D ($1,299, estimated street). At first, the K20D seems to be a twin to the K10D. Pentax kept what was outstanding in the K10D and improved it in all the right places, so the K20D is more of an upgrade than a new design. We got our hands on one of the first production units, and after running it through the Pop Photo Lab and field tests, found five reasons why this camera promises to be a big hit. » Pentax Optio Z10 Review
The Pentax Optio Z10 is an 8 Megapixel compact with a 7x optical zoom lens and 2.5in screen. Announced in August 2007, it has the highest zoom of any compact in the Pentax range at the time of writing. A longer than average zoom is certainly very useful for getting closer to distant subjects, and the Z10’s equivalent range of 38-266mm gives you much longer reach than average 3 or 4x zoom models. Impressively the lens also zooms internally and never extends beyond the housing of the camera, thereby maintaining a pocketable form factor at all times. Starting at 38mm isn’t exactly wide, but Pentax offers a digital wide option which stitches two images together to give a broader coverage equivalent to 28mm – albeit at a reduced resolution of 5 Megapixels. » Pentax Optio Z10 Review
The Pentax Optio Z10 is a small, compact digital camera with a twist - despite being the same size as a pack of playing cards, it features a 7x optical zoom lens equivalent to 38-266mm. Furthermore the lens is internal and doesn't extend from the camera, protected by a plastic screen and a sliding lens cover. The Pentax Z10 has an 8 megapixel sensor, digital shake reduction mode for both still pictures and video, a 2.5 inch LCD monitor, ISO 64-3200 and Face Recognition. A 7x zoom camera is something of a departure from the norm for Pentax, who usually specialise in more conservative 3x zoom models. Have they bitten off more than they can chew with the Z10? Mark Goldstein reviewed the Pentax Optio Z10 to find out. Read the whole review here

» Pentax buckles, gets bought by Hoya
We'd say "another one bites the dust," only that in the case of multi-billion dollar company takeovers, the metaphorical particulate is invariably of the gold form. Yeah, the latest mega-corp takeover is here, as Pentax has been taken over by Japanese company, Hoya. The deal was overshadowed by some rough internal wrangling in Pentax, involving calls from shareholders to reinstate an ex-President in favor of the takeover: the end result being that the current one, Takashi Watanuki, was forced to agree to the merger. We can't draw much from this deal at the moment, but as Hoya is involved in technology like medical imaging equipment, we'd expect a proportion of the impact to fall outside of our gadgetry remit. We've no fear that Pentax will be dropping out of the con / prosumer camera market just yet though, so for now just think of this as a business blip on your gadget radar. via engadget.com.

» Pentax K10D review

The Pentax K10D is a 10 Megapixel mid-range Digital SLR with built-in image stabilisation to combat camera shake. Announced in September 2006, the K10D is Pentax’s top of the range DSLR and boasts a number of impressive features, several of which are totally unique. Starting with image stabilisation, the K10D follows the Sony (and now Olympus) strategy of physically shifting its CCD sensor to counteract wobbles. Unlike these rival models though, the Pentax ‘Shake Reduction’ system employs magnets to additionally support rotational compensation along with the usual x and y axes. The Pentax Shake Reduction system is also employed to shake free dust and other foreign particles. And speaking of foreign particles, the K10D additionally features no fewer than 72 dust and weather-resistant seals. Read the whole review here
