Fujifilm Unveils Stylish FinePix Z200fd

Fujifilm unveiled another FinePix model today: the Z200fd. Its 19.8mm-thick body is sleek, compact, and stylish, yet packed with 10 megapixels and a 5x Fujinon optical zoom lens. In addition, the Z200fd features face detection of up to 10 faces, intelligent red-eye removal, IrSimple wireless technology, and Dual Image Stabilization to reduce blur in images. Pricing for the camera will be released closer to the point-and-shoot's shipping date in August.
Fujifilm adds two self-timer modes to the Z200fd: Couple Timer and Group Timer. Both work with the camera's face detection technology, preventing the camera from snapping a photo until all faces are entirely within the frame. Read the whole article here

» Fujifilm Finepix F50fd Review
By Manthos Tzorbatzakis | Published 03/21/2008 | Digital Cameras Reviews , Fuji | Unrated

The Fujifilm Finepix F50fd is the successor to the popular Finepix F31fd model, retaining its manual controls in the form of aperture-priority and shutter-priority modes, whilst adding Face Detection 2, a new technology that automatically enables it to identify up to 10 faces in a frame, in both full profile and at virtually any angle. Fujifilm have doubled the image resolution from 6 to 12 megapixels, added a slightly larger 2.7 inch LCD screen and refined the body design, which is now 23mm thick and sports a new 'Aero curve' design. The ISO range has been increased to 100-6400 and the F50fd also offers a CCD-shift image stabilisation system, allowing you take more natural photos in low-light conditions without having to resort to using the flash. The F31fd was renowned for being one of the best performing compact digital cameras in low-light conditions, producing usable images all the way up to ISO 1600. Combined with the creative shooting modes, this made the F31fd a great pocket camera for the discerning shutterbug. Can the F50fd, with twice the resolution, maintain the reputation of its predecessor? Read the whole review here. You can buy the camera here

» Fujifilm's IS-1. The FinePix S3 Pro UVIR Gets A Little Brother
By Manthos Tzorbatzakis | Published 12/6/2007 | Digital Cameras , Fuji | Unrated
The fascination with digital infrared photography continues to grow and Fuji follows up the introduction of the FinePix S3 Pro UVIR D-SLR with an electronic viewfinder (EVF) fixed-lens camera called the IS-1. (See our review of the UVIR on www.shutterbug.com by typing FinePix S3 Pro UVIR into the Search box.) Don’t think Fuji is just concerned about the aesthetic applications of digital IR photography. Nope, like the FinePix S3 Pro UVIR, the Fujifilm IS-1 will be used by law enforcement to solve crimes by capturing evidence not easily seen by the human eye. The camera can be used in both the visible and infrared light spectrums and has a continuous live preview feature, which is a big advantage for focusing and composing when using the dark filters that infrared photography requires. The IS-1 also has a 2” articulated LCD that simplifies previewing, capturing, and reviewing images, IR or otherwise. Read the whole article here
» Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 review
By Manthos Tzorbatzakis | Published 08/3/2007 | Digital Cameras Reviews , Fuji | Unrated

Panasonic

The Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 (the latter is the designation used outside of North America) is Fujifilm's latest bridge camera, offering a small SLR shape that provides a deep rubber-wrapped grip and a 10X optical zoom that never extends past the chromed trim of the lens barrel.
The body of the S700/S5700 is mostly composed of a black polycarbonate with a mat finish that feels quite solid. The smooth lens barrel provides a good grip to cradle the camera, and in combination with the grip, the S700/S5700, albeit small, feels secure when held. Read the whole review

»  Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro Review
By Manthos Tzorbatzakis | Published 07/5/2007 | Digital Cameras Reviews , Fuji | Unrated

The successor to Fuji's FinePix S3 Pro made its first, fleeting appearence at Photokina in September 2006, though it didn't start shipping until the spring of 2007 - keeping in line with Fuji's approx two-year gap between SLR models. The S5 Pro may have the same sensor (well, almost - more about that later) as the S3 Pro, but as a camera it is a quantum leap forward over the models that preceded it, being based on the highly-regarded Nikon D200 (all the previous models were based on consumer level Nikon film cameras).
Being essentially a D200 with a Super CCD sensor and Fuji processor means the S5 Pro enjoys all the benefits of Nikon's superb 'semi pro' body; weather-sealed body with a magnesium alloy chassis, latest generation focus, flash and metering systems, better shutter, better viewfinder and expansive lens compatibility. It is also the first Fuji SLR to be a truly 'integrated' digital camera; previous models were based on film cameras (supplied by Nikon) which forced Fuji to use a clunky 'camera of two halves' design, complicating control (and in the early models meaning the 'digital' and 'camera' parts had separate batteries). Finally there are some changes under the hood, including a tweaked sensor, new processor and a host of minor (and a few major) feature upgrades. Read the whole review here

» Fujifilm FinePix S9600 review with test photos
By Manthos Tzorbatzakis | Published 04/23/2007 | Digital Cameras Reviews , Fuji | Unrated
Since some time, Fujifilm has two Megazoom cameras in its program. One, the FinePix S6500fd, has been produced to target the average consumer. The other, the Fujifilm FinePix S9600, has been intended for the more serious photographer and offers, for that reason, other possibilities than the FinePix S6500fd. The Fujifilm S9600 succeeds the FinePix S9500. There aren't many changes in regards to the previous model. The image quality has been improved, the Fujifilm FinePix S9600 Megazoom camera is equipped with a larger LCD monitor and an auto focus for faster focus under low light circumstances and there are improvements in the flash. The number of Megapixels remains the same. Read the whole review here
