Pentax announces the new Optio E30, an entry-level model digital camera designed with beginners' convenience in mind, which now comes with a 7.1 megapixel CCD. It is only 5 years ago that the 2-megapixel cameras accounted for the largest portion of digital camera sales. At the end of 2001 more than 80% of the digital cameras were sold in the 2 or fewer megapixel class and only 3.5% featured a CCD with 4 or more megapixels.
